Our Council members consider staff recommendations through our Standing Committees. There are four Standing Committees that meet monthly, including:
Council also establishes Ad Hoc Committees that report directly to Council.
Local Boards and Advisory Committees
If you would like to get involved and be a part of the decision making process, volunteer to be appointed to one of our boards or advisory committees or local boards. All advisory committees accept applications throughout the term for members. You can apply to any of the Committees by filling out an application form and submitting to the Clerk's office.
Committee of Adjustment: Responsible for considering minor variances from the Zoning By-law. Meets every third Thursday of the Month, 7:00 p.m. (reimbursed position).
Police Services Board: Responsible for overseeing and administering the County of Brant Contract with Brant County O.P.P. for local police service. Meets every third Wednesday of the month, 9:00 a.m. (reimbursed position).
County of Brant Library Board: Responsible for oversight and strategic direction for the County of Brant Libraries. Meets every second Tuesday of the month, 7:00 p.m. (volunteer position).
Accessibility Advisory Committee: Provides recommendations to the Community Services Committee on matters pertaining to accessibility, reviewing the Annual Accessibility Plan, with specific reference to the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. Meets every second Monday of the month, 1:00 p.m. (volunteer position).
Agricultural Advisory Committee: Provides recommendations to the Planning Advisory Committee and serves as consultation on matters relating to or affecting agriculture. Meeting schedule varies (volunteer position).
Biggar's Lane Landfill Liaison Committee: Provides liaison to the Public Works Committee on matters relating to Biggar's Lane Landfill and general waste management matters on an as-needed basis. Meeting schedule varies. (volunteer position).
Brant Heritage Committee: Provides recommendations to the Planning Advisory Committee on matters relating to / affecting Heritage and is responsible for recommending any built heritage designations. (volunteer position).
Cemetery Advisory Committee: Provides recommendations to the Community Services Committee regarding cemetery operations throughout the County and on policies and programs - meets the fourth Thursday of every other month at 9:00 a.m. (volunteer position).
Economic Development Advisory Committee: - provides recommendations to the Corporate Development Committee on matters pertaining to economic development in the County of Brant. Meets the third Thursday of each month, 8:30 a.m. at the Fire Administration Building, 61 Dundas Street East.
Parks and Recreation Advisory Committees: - Provides recommendations to the Community Services Committee on recreation programs, parks and facilities

Tourism Advisory Committee: - Provides recommendations to the Corporate Development Committee on matters affecting tourism within the County of Brant. Meets the first Thursday of every month, 10:00 a.m. (volunteer position).
