Arts, Culture and Heritage

County of BrantCulture Abounds!

The County of Brant has a vibrant and active Arts Community, is extremely 'Rich In Culture', and boasts Heritage destinations that played enormous roles in what the world is today.

Home to an active group of fine artisans, a bourgeoning musical scene as well as a host of successful authors, the County of Brant with its picturesque river valleys, fields of golden wheat and architecture of Cobblestone, Gothic, Edwardian and Victorian eras and structure is a serene treasure that channels the inner artist in all of us and has inspired many to become renowned in their fields.

Whether dining riverside along the Grand - a Canadian Heritage River, enjoying coffee in one of the many Brant cafes or enjoying a Harvest Festival in the bright autumn colours that wraps the area like a woolen sweater, you will soon realize Brant Culture is uniquely captivating and will make you want to immerse yourself in it time and again.

Heritage points of interest abound in the County of Brant. From the relics of our past including; historic mills, barns, rail and fueling stations, stone bridges and cobblestone buildings to the site where the world's first long distance telephone call was received; from the home of the co-founder of the International Women's Institute & co-founder of the YWCA to the site where Canada last stood as a nation against a foreign invading power; from the family home of the first Canadian licensed female doctor to the final resting place of many United Empire Loyalists, the County of Brant is steeped in history and destinations so vitally important to the Heritage of our own community, the building of our nation and the values we strive to uphold in this 21st century world.

Experience our arts, culture and heritage by taking a barn quilt tour, visiting a local historic site or enjoying the day at one of our museums or art galleries.
