Smoke Alarm "Heroes" Save a Family

Smoke Alarm “Heroes” Save a Family

County of Brant - The County of Brant Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire in the early morning hours of Aug 11th.  Upon arrival, crews found an active fire and the family safe and sound on the front lawn, thanks to working smoke alarms.

“Despite the awful tragedy that the family has suffered, it might have been worse had they not had working smoke alarms.  The smoke alarms sounded and woke up the family, giving them the necessary time to escape” said Fire Chief, Michael Seth.  Without the alarms, the family might never have known there was even a fire.

Smoke and Carbon Monoxide alarms are required by law.

Michael Seth added, “The family had smoke alarms on every level of the house and they did their job.  The family got out of the house.”

Having the right number of alarms, correctly installed, can save lives.
