Seeking Input on a Proposed Agri-Food Innovation Centre
Erie Innovation and Commercialization is seeking input on the potential development of an Agri-Food Innovation Centre in the south central Ontario region. Specifically an online survey has been prepared and launched which will gauge community interest and need for such a facility.
"Getting input from the community is crucial to the development of the vision for this potential centre" says John Kelly, Vice President of Erie Innovation and Commercialization. "An Agri-Food Innovation Centre can be described in many different ways, and we are attempting to determine what will work best for the region"
The survey has 10 questions, and preliminary results of the survey will be presented at a series of consultations across the region that will occur in the next few weeks. In order to achieve input from a large swath of the community, many groups have been contacted to spread the word.
"We are very pleased to see developments occurring which will hopefully provide a path forward for the development of innovation in the region" says Dennis Travale, Mayor of Norfolk County and Chair of the South Central Ontario Region (SCOR) Board of Directors. "The development of an Agri-Food Innovation Centre is one of the key tenets of the SCOR strategy, and is aimed at supporting our strong agricultural economic base and also to support the local farmer"
The survey can be found online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/BQ8HTV8
The development of an Agri-Food Innovation Centre is consistent with the objectives of Erie Innovation and Commercialization, which has a mandate to help diversify agricultural and agri-food opportunities in the south central Ontario region.
