County of Brant Seeks Business Leaders for Economic Development Advisory Committee.
The County of Brant is creating an Economic Development Advisory Committee. The committee will be comprised of citizens that can
contribute their time and energy on matters pertaining to economic development issues. More details, Applications and the Terms of

Through a grant from Celebrate Ontario, the Paris Agricultural Society has launched a marketing initiative called "This is Brantastic!"
This fall the "This Is Brantastic" will be launched at the Paris Fair. The initiative is designed to highlight all that Brant has to
offer in a dedicated pavilion, and to entice visitors to return to see other attractions and events. With 4 of Canada's top home decor
and culinary television celebrities hosting shows at the Fair, the crowds visiting the Brantastic pavilion will number in the thousands.

Global tourism entrepreneurship event explores challenges of growing industry
The NeXt Research Centre in the Laurier School of
Business & Economics will host an international conference on Tourism Entrepreneurship at Wilfrid Laurier University.
The event will examine several entrepreneurial themes, including organizational performance, external influences, rural
entrepreneurship, nascent entrepreneurship, networks and the characteristics of an entrepreneur. A panel discussion on
the challenges and future prospects of the tourism entrepreneurship industry in Southern Ontario will be held Tuesday,
April 27 starting at 7:30 a.m. in Laurier's Senate and Board Chamber. Tickets are $35.

Department of Canadian Heritage Funding Program
The Building Communities Through Arts and Heritage Program provides support for activities that celebrate local artists
and artisans and local historical heritage, and that are intended for and open to the general public. Funding is available
through three different components: Local Festivals, Community Anniversaries, and The Legacy Fund.
The next deadline for applications is April 30, 2010.

Free Workshop on Regional Tourism Changes
The province of Ontario has been categorized into 13 Tourism Regions. Brant lies in Region #3 along with the City of Brantford,
Six Nations New Credit, the City of Hamilton, City of Burlington, and Halton Region. Region #3 has an opportunity to provide an
update on what is happening in our specific region and we will be able to share more tangible information. This workshop is
open to all partners in your area - especially useful for hotels, motels, university residents etc. We hope that as many partners
as possible can attend and learn about the changes happening in our industry.

The Enterprise Brant (Brant Community Futures Development Corporation) has grants available for organizations that operate in Brantford/County of
Brant. The SWCAF has been created to support projects that enhance the community capacity for economic development with
Brantford/County of Brant. The Enterprise Brant is currently accepting applications for all five elements.

Sand Plains Community Development Fund (SPCDF)
SPDCF is an application-based program to assist rural communities in the tobacco-growing region of the Sand Palins region
(Counties of Brant, Elgin, Middlesex, Norfolk, Oxford) to transition to a non-tobacco based economy. Support will be targeted
community-based initiatives which support regional development, attract and retain people and investment, and stimulate
business development and job creation. The Fund has two separate components: Community Development Support and Access to
