    Free Workshop on Regional Tourism Changes
    The province of Ontario has been categorized into 13 Tourism Regions. Brant lies in Region #3 along with the City of Brantford, Six Nations New Credit, the City of Hamilton, City of Burlington, and Halton Region. Region #3 has an opportunity to provide an update on what is happening in our specific region and we will be able to share more tangible information. This workshop is open to all partners in your area - especially useful for hotels, motels, university residents etc. We hope that as many partners as possible can attend and learn about the changes happening in our industry.

    As a partner in the delivery of the Southwestern Ontario Community Adjustment Fund (SWCAF),
    The Enterprise Brant (Brant Community Futures Development Corporation) has grants available for organizations that operate in Brantford/County of Brant. The SWCAF has been created to support projects that enhance the community capacity for economic development with Brantford/County of Brant. The Enterprise Brant is currently accepting applications for all five elements.

    Sand Plains Community Development Fund (SPCDF)
    SPDCF is an application-based program to assist rural communities in the tobacco-growing region of the Sand Palins region (Counties of Brant, Elgin, Middlesex, Norfolk, Oxford) to transition to a non-tobacco based economy. Support will be targeted community-based initiatives which support regional development, attract and retain people and investment, and stimulate business development and job creation. The Fund has two separate components: Community Development Support and Access to Capital.

    Federal Funding for Festivals to Support Arts & Heritage

    Thirty million in new funding per year provided for in the 2007 Budget has been allocated to support local arts and heritage activities that involve Canadians in their communities through activities that express, celebrate, and preserve local culture.

    The Building Communities through Arts and Heritage program will provide support for both local arts and heritage festivals that feature local artists and artisans or local heritage, as well as major historical anniversaries of local importance. Applications are now available for local arts and heritage festivals and community

    Supplementary funding for Arts Presentation Canada (APC) will provide additional support for professional arts festivals that encourage community engagement. The APC program seeks to give Canadians more access to direct experiences of the diversity and richness of Canada's culture through professional arts festivals, presentations of live professional performances, and other arts experiences

    Shining Stars Tourism Awards Nomination Period is Open
    Nominations are now open for the 5th annual Shining Stars Tourism Awards until August 31st, 2007. The Awards are a joint project designed to honour and celebrate outstanding achievements in the tourism industry within the County of Brant, the City of Brantford, and Six Nations/New Credit. A special gala called "Night of a Thousand Stars" is being planned for "Wednesday, September 26, 2007 at the Sanderson Centre for the Performing Arts where the winners will be announced. There are 18 awards in total, with categories for Businesses, Individuals and a new People's Choice section.
