Your local Clerk’s Office is designated by the Registrar General’s
Office as the local Division Registrar for Births, Deaths, and Issuer
of Marriage Licences. Marriage licences are issued through this office
and births and deaths that take place in the municipality of the County
of Brant are registered through this office.
Are you getting married in the Province of Ontario?
There is an application form to be
filled out and signed. We require photo identification and proof of age for both
parties to the marriage. If you or your fiancé have been married
before, we may require other documents, so please contact our office for
up to date information. The licence is valid only in the Province of Ontario.
Are you getting married in another province, territory or country?
If you are getting married outside of the Province of Ontario you need
to obtain a licence from the province, territory or country where the
marriage will take place. Marriage laws including residency requirements
may vary from place to place. If you are getting married while on vacation,
your travel agent may be able to assist you with your arrangements.
