TO REGULATE OPEN AIR BURNING

| The Ontario Fire Code Article 2.6.3.4 states open air burning shall not be permitted unless approved, OR unless such burning consists of a small confined fire, supervised at all times, and used to cook food on a grill or barbecue. |
| RECREATIONAL BURNING: |
NO CALL NEEDED |

- When the fire is contained in a fire pit which is no more than one square meter in area.
- Is at least 15 meters from any building, structure, hedge, fence, roadway, property line.
- Unless otherwise approved by the Fire Chief.

Open air burning that does not meet the criteria of recreational burning (i.e. yard waste, brush piles of under 3 square meters in area) MUST BE APPROVED BY THE FIRE CHIEF.

| For large farm-type fires, brush/ginseng shades/kilns, permission for up to 3 days with permit. |

| The Fire Chief shall issue a permit for the burning of materials included in Schedule "B" forming part of the by-law. A permit fee is $157.95 for a semi-annual permit. |
