Extreme Cold Weather Alert

An Extreme Cold Warning is in effect for the County of Brant today, January 16, into tomorrow morning.

Extreme cold warnings are issued when very cold temperatures or wind chill creates an elevated risk to health such as frost bite and hypothermia. Cover up. Frostbite can develop within minutes on exposed skin, especially with wind chill. 

Risks are greater for young children, older adults, people with chronic illnesses, people working or exercising outdoors, and those without proper shelter.

Winter Weather Travel Advisory issued for Brant

Environment Canada has issued a winter weather travel advisory today (Saturday, January 13) for the County of Brant.

Locally heavy snowfall with total accumulations near 5 cm is expected with reduced visibility at times due to heavy and blowing snow. With last night's rain and today's falling temperatures, icy conditions on roads and walkways are also likely.

Travel may be hazardous due to sudden changes in the weather.

Avoid non-essential travel if possible and if you must travel today plan ahead...
