County of Brant Completes its 2026 Budget

Mayor David Bailey presented the Proposed Budget at two Special Council meetings held on January 22 and February 2, 2026. Following significant discussion, and with guidance from the newly approved Long Term Financial Plan, the result is a 4% property tax increase, along with an additional 1% tax surcharge dedicated to the New Hospital Project - a commitment that Council has made for the next several years. Voting in the Ward 5 by-election is open from Monday, March 9 at 10:00 am until Monday, March 16 at 8:00 pm!

Attention County of Brant! Environment Canada has issued a Special Weather Statement for our region. A messy winter storm is expected to arrive tomorrow, Wednesday, February 18, 2026, bringing a hazardous mix of freezing rain, ice pellets, and heavy rainfall.
Prolonged freezing rain is possible, which will make roads and walkways extremely slippery and difficult to navigate. Winds gusts combined with ice buildup may also lead to utility outages and fallen tree branches.
