Everyone is at risk during very cold weather. In temperatures of -15C or colder, unprotected skin can freeze in less than 30 minutes and the risk of developing hypothermia is high. ❄️

Help us clear the streets faster, Brant! During a snow event, please remember:
- Keep Roads Clear: Parked cars are a snowplow's biggest challenge. Please avoid parking on the street if possible, especially on streets that haven't been plowed yet.
- Shovel Sidewalks: Property owners and occupants must clear their sidewalks within 24 hours after snow accumulation ends. This helps keep our community safe for pedestrians.
- Don't Dump Snow: It is illegal to deposit snow from your property onto the road.

The County’s winter road management plan includes anti-icing, salt, sand or a combination of all.
Salt is a cost-effective material and when applied in a timely manner, prevents snow and ice from bonding to the road surface. Messy winter weather is in the forecast. In the County of Brant, we have over 2200 lane kilometers to plow, salt and sand! 2200 kilometers is equivalent to driving from Paris, Ontario to the tip of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.
Being a rural community, we have an extensive road network. In a snow or ice event, the winter maintenance vehicles may need to clear and/or treat the same roads several times.
