The County of Brant is pleased to announce that David Mellor has accepted the role of General Manager of Operations, effective Thursday, May 1, 2025.
“We would like to welcome David to the organization,” said Alison Newton, Chief Administrative Officer. “He brings with him a wealth of knowledge and experience from past roles, and we couldn’t be happier to have him join the team.”

Reminder - 2025-2026 Fall/Winter Ice Requests are due soon

The County of Brant is currently accepting requests for the 2025-2026 Fall/Winter ice season (September 15, 2025 to March 29, 2026). All requests will be considered and ice will be allocated in accordance with the County of Brant, Sport Facility Allocation Policy after the May 15th 4:00 pm deadline. This policy along with more information can be found on our Ice and Floor Rentals webpage

County of Brant sports fields open today, May 1!

Throughout the spring and summer, sports fields may need to close due to inclement weather. The County of Brant aims to post cancellations and closures by 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Outside of this, the games may be called at the discretion of the ump/league organizer.

Backyard Hen Bylaw Now in Effect – Apply Online Today

The County of Brant has enacted a new Backyard Hen Bylaw (PDF), allowing residents in eligible zones to keep backyard hens on their properties. To get started, residents must apply for and receive a Backyard Hen License before purchasing any hens.

Household Hazardous Waste Day this Saturday, May 3

Household Hazardous Waste Day for County residents will take place this Saturday, May 3, at the Mohawk Street Landfill (20 Morrison Road, Brantford) from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.
Household hazardous waste includes materials such as paint, solvents, used oils, batteries, and fluorescent light bulbs. These items should not be disposed of in household garbage due to their harmful effects on the environment, humans, and animals.
Please note - ID may be requested to confirm residency in Brant or Brantford.
