Messy winter weather is in the forecast. In the County of Brant, we have over 2200 lane kilometers to plow, salt and sand!  2200 kilometers is equivalent to driving from Paris, Ontario to the tip of Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia.

Being a rural community, we have an extensive road network. In a snow or ice event, the winter maintenance vehicles may need to clear and/or treat the same roads several times.

Syl Apps Community Centre Turf Closure

Due to concerns regarding the current indoor turf conditions, the field at Syl Apps Community Centre will remain closed until necessary repairs are completed, with an anticipated reopening of Thursday, December 4, 2025.

During this time all regularly scheduled drop-in programming, as well as all private user groups will be cancelled.  We appreciate your understanding and will provide updates as maintenance is completed.

Why is there so much major road construction happening? Paris and St. George are growing!

With more homes being built and more people moving to Brant, we are upgrading the infrastructure to make sure it can provide a high quality of service for residents, businesses and visitors!  

This means major road construction is happening which is messy and inconvenient (we get it and agree!).

Friendly Reminder: William Street and Grand River Street Intersection

Friendly reminder: When heading east on William Street towards the William Street and Grand River Street North Intersection, please remember there are two lanes. 

The left lane is dedicated for left turns only.  The right lane is dedicated for those travelling straight and turning right.  Since the re-opening of Grand River Street North, there have been a few near-misses and confusion using these lanes.  Line markings are on the road. Dundas Street

Dundas Street East and Green Lane in Paris have reopened

We are pleased to share that Dundas Street East and Green Lane in Paris have re-opened.

The attenuator (a safety device designed to reduce the damage to structures, vehicles, and motorists resulting from a motor vehicle collision) will be installed at the CN Rail bridge delineator in the near future. Until then, the road under the CN Rail Bridge will be narrowed to a wide single lane in each direction.
