Cold notification issued for Brant starting December 31, 2025

The Medical Officer of Health (MOH) for Grand Erie Public Health (GEPH) is issuing a Cold Notification for the Grand Erie Public Health region (Brantford-Brant and Haldimand-Norfolk), effective December 31, 2025.

A Cold Notification is issued, by the MOH, when parts or all areas of the region are expected to reach temperatures below  -15 ºC, or when wind chill values reach -20 ºC.

The notification will remain in effect until a cancellation notice is issued.

Please note that some areas scheduled for garbage and recycling pickup today, December 31, 2025, will not be completed by 5:00 pm.

Our collection crews are working diligently and hope to finish by this evening.

If your materials have not been collected by 8:00 pm, you may either:

  1. Leave them curbside overnight, or
  2. Bring them in and place them back at the curb by 7:00 am tomorrow for pickup by end of day.

We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

This includes the Simply Grand Dog Park and frisbee golf.

The County of Brant joins the OPP in advising motorists to use extra caution on the roads today and tomorrow, as parts our area may experience significant rain, freezing rain and strong winds.

The Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) is issuing a Flood Watch message for Nith River Subwatershed. A Watershed Conditions – Water Safety message remains in effect for the the Grand River watershed.

A friendly reminder, our Curbside Christmas tree collection will take place the weeks of January 5 –9 and January 12–16.

To ensure pickup, please place your tree:
