In consultation with the County of Brant Agricultural Advisory Committee, the County of Brant has prepared a draft Rural Prosperity Community Improvement Plan, or RPCIP.

At its core, the RPCIP is a grant program that supports farms, rural businesses, tourism operators, and commercial properties in the County’s rural communities. It aims to reduce the cost of improving buildings, upgrading signage, reusing older structures, and completing required planning or building approvals.

New Recycling items for 2026!

As of January 1, 2026 -  you can recycle more items in Ontario!

New materials now accepted in your weekly recycling collection: 

  • Flexible plastic packaging (plastic bags, deli meat bags, chip bags, overwrap)
  • Foam packaging (meat trays, take out containers, cups, plates, bowls)
  • Empty aerosol containers (food, personal care products)

Floor Requests for Spring/Summer 2026

The County of Brant is now accepting requests for indoor floor use for Spring/Summer 2026.

Requests can be submitted online at brant.ca/FloorRequest

The floor is available at the Burford Community Centre and the Gaukel Memorial Community Centre (St. George) from April 7 to August 9, 2026.

Please submit your request by Wednesday February 11, 2026 at 4:00 pm. Any submissions received after the due date will be dealt with on a first come, first serve basis if floor time allows.

Garbage and Recycling Collection Delay on Monday, January 5

Please note that some areas scheduled for garbage and recycling pickup today, January 5, 2026, will not be completed by 5:00 pm. Our collection crews are working diligently and hope to finish by this evening.

If your materials have not been collected by 8:00 pm, you may either:

  1. Leave them curbside overnight, or
  2. Bring them in and place them back at the curb by 7:00 am tomorrow for pickup by end of day.

We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience.

Holiday Garbage and Recycling Collection Update

Waste collection can be challenging during the holiday season due to closures, increased volumes and winter weather conditions. 

Collection crews are working diligently to attend to any missed collections.  If you still haven’t had last week’s garbage collected, please contact the County of Brant at 519.44BRANT (519.442.7268) or toll-free 1.855.44BRANT and ask to speak to our Operations staff. You may also submit an online form at brant.ca/ReportaProblem

If so, you should know that the County of Brant is upgrading and extending trunk sanitary sewers in St. George this spring to continue to safely serve the existing community while accommodating planned growth. Upgrading the sewer system now helps ensure safe and reliable wastewater service, reduces the risk of system failures, and supports long-term community stability.

The County created the current Filming Policy (CM-2024-03) in 2024. The policy guides how filming companies operate in small communities. It includes rules for notifications, traffic and parking controls, filming hours, noise limits, road access, and support for residents and businesses.
