Additional Residential Unit Permit
An Additional Residential Unit, sometimes referred to as a secondary unit, is a self-contained unit that is either located within or attached to the primary dwelling unit or located within a detached accessory structure, subject to zoning requirements and restrictions.

New Residential Building Permit
A building permit is required for the construction of a single detached home, semi-detached home, and townhouses.
Tiny Homes
On-site Construction
A building permit is required for the on-site construction of a Tiny Home that is 37m² (398ft²) or less in building area and have not more than one dwelling unit.

Off-site Construction
A building permit is required for the off-site construction of a Tiny Home that is 37m² (398ft²) or less in building area and have not more than one dwelling unit.
It is a two-permit system for off-site construction of tiny homes when a tiny home is constructed in one municipality but is to be located and occupied in another. In this instance, you will need to apply for the following:
- A building permit in the originating municipality where the tiny home is being constructed
- A building permit in the receiving municipality where the tiny home will be located and occupied
- and an additional form of Tiny Homes Transfer Form
