Downtown Community Improvement Plans

The Community Improvement Plan (CIP) program provides funding for eligible businesses and property owners to improve their building provided the improvements align within the intent of the Downtown Community Improvement Plan.

Program information

There are many benefits with the Downtown Community Improvement Plan including:

  • Leverage private sector investment in the County’s downtown areas
  • Enhanced downtown vibrancy
  • Increased support for local business
  • Future proof downtown core area

There are nine types of grants available through the Downtown Community Improvement Plan:

  1. Facade Improvement Grant
  2. Signage Improvement Grant
  3. Downtown Housing Improvement Grant
  4. Property and Private Parking Improvement Grant
  5. Planning and Building Application Grant
  6. Adaptive Commercial Reuse Grant
  7. Tax Increment Equivalent Program Grant
  8. Brownfield Study Grant
  9. Brownfield Property Tax Assistance Program

The County of Brant currently has three Community Improvement Plan's underway in Burford, Paris and St. George. Each Community Improvement Plan has their own unique design guideline:

Downtown Community Improvement Plan Applications 

Interested applicants are encouraged to contact the County of Brant's Economic Development team prior to applying to the Community Improvement Plan to confirm eligibility. Please note that any construction or improvements completed before an approved application is in place will generally be considered ineligible.
