Dog Licences
All dog owners must register their dog(s) as soon as they become the owner and renew this licence each year on or before March 31. When you register your dog, you will receive a dog tag. Keep the current dog tag securely fixed to the dog it was issued for.

How to purchase or renew a Dog Licence
Online:
To purchase a new dog licence
- Complete the Dog Licence Application Form
To renew an existing dog licence
- Complete the Dog Licence Renewal Form
By internet banking:
- Add “County of Brant Dog Tag” as a payee and insert the account number. This can be found on your renewal form (example LCDG0000000XX). If you need your account number, contact the County of Brant
By mail:
- Send your form with a cheque payable to the “County of Brant” to the “County of Brant, 26 Park Ave, P.O. Box 160, Burford ON N0E 1A0”
- In-person at a County of Brant Customer Service Office
Fee policies:
- To receive the Spayed/ Neutered rate, documentation must be provided (documentation will be kept on file)
- Dogs less than 1 year of age may be licenced at the Spayed/Neutered rate the first year
- Upon renewal, you must provide proof that the dog is spayed or neutered to pay the Spayed/Neutered rate
- You must provide proof that a dog is an assistance dog upon first registration to receive the Assistance Dog rate (documentation will be kept on file)
Licence transfers and refunds
All requests for refunds or transfers must be made in writing to County of Brant Bylaw Enforcement Division.
Updating Account Information
If your address or contact information has changed or if your dog has died, please update your dog licence information by contacting the County of Brant.
Pitbull regulations
Special criteria apply to pitbull licensing, including control and sterilization. Read the Dog Owner's Liability Act for more information.
Stoop and scoop
All dog owners are required to remove and sanitarily dispose of any waste left by their dog(s) immediately. This rule does not apply to waste left by assistance dogs during the performance of their duties.
