Family Fireworks
Family Fireworks are low-hazard firework articles designed for recreational use by the public which are classified as type F.1 explosives under the Canadian Explosives Act and Regulations, including but not limited to: showers, golden rain, lawn lights, pinwheels, roman candles, and volcanoes, but does not include party poppers or sparklers containing less than 2 mg of explosive substance.
These can be discharged without a permit during the holiday periods that are listed in the Fireworks Bylaw:
No person shall discharge Family Fireworks within the County, except for on Canada Day or Victoria Day or three (3) days preceding and three (3) days subsequent to Canada Day and Victoria Day.
Apply for a Family Fireworks Permit
To discharge Family Fireworks outside of the above holidays, you must submit a Family Fireworks Permit Application. This application will be reviewed and approved by the Fire Chief or Official Fire Designate.
Once approved, a fee is required and must be paid before the permit is valid.
