Livestock and Poultry Compensation

If your livestock or poultry has been injured or killed by wildlife, you may be compensated. Call the County of Brant within 48 hours of finding the injury or death.

The Protection of Livestock from Dogs Act applies when livestock or poultry has been injured or killed by a dog(s).

You may be eligible under the Ontario Wildlife Damage Compensation Program if you have a Premises ID number and a valid Farm Business Registration Number (some exceptions apply).

Farm business registration number

You can register your farm business through Agricorp. Visit Agricorp's website.

Premises ID number

You can register your premises for free through the Provincial Premises Registry. This is an initiative through the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food and the Ontario Ministry of Rural Affairs (OMAF and MRA).
