Lost Pets and Stray Animals

If your pet is lost, if you found a stray animal or if an animal is affecting your safety, the County of Brant can offer support and information.

Lost pets

If your pet is lost, start by contacting the following organizations to see if your pet has been picked up:

  • Hillside Kennels at 1.888.469.3247 or 519.536.4131
  • Brant County SPCA at 519.756.6620

Be prepared to give a description of your pet, dog tag number and microchip number if he or she has one.

To retrieve your pet from Animal Control, you must

  • Contact the shelter/organization to make arrangements to pick up your lost pet
  • Pay the impound and boarding fees, any related veterinary or health care costs, and a license fee if the pet is not registered
  • Provide personal photo identification
  • Provide proof of ownership (licence information, papers from your vet, and microchip/tattoo information)
  • Have a leash or carrier ready

Stray and injured animals

If you find a stray dog or sick or injured animal within the County of Brant, you can report it to the County of Brant Bylaw Enforcement Division.
