Noise
The Noise Bylaw (PDF) regulates noise in the County of Brant. There are certain activities that cause noise that are prohibited at certain times of the day.
There are also general rules for noise in effect at all times every day including:
- Barking dogs
- Motorized sport or entertainment vehicles
- Vehicle idling
- Refrigeration unit on a parked truck
There are some exceptions to these rules including:
- Any parade authorized by council
- Bells or chimes for church activities
- Any carnival, midway, circus, sporting event or recreational, musical, entertainment, festival or other event, authorized by council
- Fireworks authorized by the Fire Chief
- Normal farming operations (see Farming and Food Production and Promotion Act for more information)
- Fall fairs operated by an Agricultural Society on property owned by an Agricultural Society
Applying for a noise exemption
You can file an application for noise exemption if you are planning an event which may not follow the Noise Bylaw.
- There is a fee of $168.11 for a Noise Exemption Application and applicants will receive an email from staff for payment once received.

Noise complaints
- You must provide your name and contact information to Bylaw Enforcement
- Anonymous complaints are not investigated.
- You can file a noise complaint 8:30 am to 4:30 pm Monday to Friday
