Road Use
The County of Brant regulates the operations on roads through the Road Use Bylaw (PDF) .
Fun Fact: Highway 403 and Highway 24 (north and south) are maintained by the Ministry of Transportation (MTO) and are not considered County roads.
The following activities are not allowed on County roads without approval
- Obstructing, encumbering, injuring or fouling a highway
- Excavating a highway
- Placing, constructing or maintaining any structure on a highway
- Depositing dirt, gravel, snow or ice on a highway
- Removing plants, earth or materials from the highway
- Planting vegetation on a highway (exception: grass on a boulevard)
- Causing public nuisance on a highway (example: fire, water, vapour or noise)
- Constructing a gate or door swinging over a highway
- Constructing anything that hangs over a highway
- Conducting any activity that interferes with public travel
- Selling or displaying goods on a highway
- Operating a crane, boom or other equipment above a highway
- Altering a boulevard
- Tracking waste, soil or other materials onto a highway
