Special Effect Pyrotechnics
Special Effect Pyrotechnics are explosives used to produce a special effect in a film or television production or a performance before a live audience. They are explosives which may be classified as type F.3 in Canada’s Explosives Act.
Fireworks accessories classified as Type F.4 under the Act; black powder and hazard category PE 1 black powder substitutes classified as Type P.1; smokeless powder and hazard category PE 3 black powder substitutes classified as Type P.2; initiation systems classified as Type I (such as blasting accessories); detonating cord classified as Type E.1; and low-hazard special purpose explosives (Type S.1) and high-hazard special purpose explosives (Type S.2).

To discharge Special Effects Pyrotechnics in the County of Brant, you must submit a Special Events Pyrotechnics Permit Application. This application will be reviewed and approved by the Fire Chief or Official Fire Designate.
