Walking to School

Choosing to walk, bike, or roll to school is a simple way to build healthy habits, support cleaner air, and create safer, less congested school zones. Active travel helps students start the day energized while strengthening our community and environment.

Winter Walk Day

Wednesday, February 4 is Winter Walk Day across the Country and we're encouraging students and families to walk, roll, and stay active—even in the colder months! Choosing active travel helps build healthy habits, supports mental well-being, and keeps our school communities connected.

Winter Walking Safety Tips:

  • Dress in warm layers, hats, and mittens
  • Wear footwear with good traction to prevent slips
  • Choose bright or reflective clothing to stay visible
  • Take shorter steps and watch for icy spots
  • Walk together and use safe routes and crossings
