Ward 5 By-Election Voting

You qualify to vote in the Ward 5 By-Election if: 

  • You are at least 18 years old on Election Day
  • You are a Canadian citizen,
  • If you are a resident of the County of Brant Ward 5
  • If you rent or own property in the County of Brant, Ward 5 and
  • You are not otherwise prohibited by law from voting.

Voting Period

Start: Monday, March 9, 2026, 10:00 AM

End: Monday, March 16, 2026, 8:00 PM

Voter Registration

A Voter Information Letter (VIL) is required to vote. VILs were mailed on Friday, February 20, with residents beginning to receive them as early as February 23, 2026.

  • Ward 5 residents who have not received their VIL by March 9, 2026 can contact the County of Brant Clerk's Department to request a new VIL. 
  • Ward 5 residents who have lost their VIL can contact the County of Brant Clerk’s Department to request a replacement VIL 
  • Ward 5 residents who need to be added to the Voters List or change their current information, can make corrections or be added until and on election day, Monday, March 16, 2026. You will need to fill out the following application and submit to the Clerk's Department.

  • Visiting the Burford or Paris Customer Service Offices:
    • Paris Customer Service Office, 66 Grand River St N, Paris, ON N3L 2M2 
    • Burford Customer Service Office, 26 Park Ave, Burford, ON N0E 1A0
    • Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm

Voting

Voting will take place over the phone and online. 

  • Vote by Internet:  Ward 5 Vote Here  
  • Vote by Phone Toll Free: 1-888-837-9979

The County of Brant will also offer an in-person Voter Assistance Location at the TF Warren Group Cainsville Community Centre, 15 Ewart Avenue, in Cainsville on the following dates: 

  • Sunday, March 15 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm
  • Monday, March 16 from 10:00 am to 8:00 pm

Electors are reminded to bring their Voter Information Letter with them to the Voter Assistance location.

If electors do not have internet access, they may visit any County of Brant library or a Customer Service office, where they will have access to a device to cast their online ballot. Visit the Customer Service Locations webpage for a complete listing.
