Ward 5 by-election

At its meeting on December 2, 2025, the County of Brant Council passed By-law 121-25 authorizing a by-election to fill the vacant Ward 5 Council seat.

In accordance with the by-law, the following key dates have been set:

  • Nominations close: January 30, 2026 at 2:00 pm

  • Election Day: March 16, 2026

This by-election will be conducted using online voting as the designated voting method. An in-person polling option will be available. Voters who attend in person will cast their ballot using electronic devices (online voting), with staff on site to provide assistance as needed.

Candidate Information and Nomination Package

The 2026 by-election to fill the ward 5 vacant seat is scheduled for Monday, March 16, 2026. The successful candidate will be sworn into office on March 24, 2026, at the regular meeting of the County of Brant Council. The tenure of this position is limited to the remainder of the 2022-2026 term of Council. The last meeting of the current Council is scheduled for October 20, 2026.

Nominations forms may be filed in person by appointment with the Clerk from Mondays to Fridays between 9:00am and 4:00pm. On Nomination Day itself, nomination forms may only be filed between 9:00am and 2:00pm.

The Clerk’s Office is located at 66 Grand River St. N. in Paris.

Note that campaign contributions/expenses cannot commence before nomination papers are filed.
