On January 6, 2016, County of Brant Mayor Ron Eddy and City of Brantford Mayor Chris Friel signed a Memorandum of Understanding that established the basis of a draft Municipal Boundary Agreement (MBA) between both municipalities. The Memorandum of Understanding is the result of a collaborative approach between staff from both municipalities and direction provided by both Councils over the last several months.
In January 2016, the County of Brant and the City of Brantford held consultation events in both communities to provide information and to seek feedback from the public regarding the proposed MBA.
In response to the feedback received during the consultation events, modifications were made to the proposed MBA and subsequently approved by Councils for the County of Brant and the City of Brantford.
Following the approval of the proposed MBA, by both Councils, consultation began between the County of Brant, the Six Nations and the City of Brantford. The result of this consultation being that additional modifications be made to the proposed MBA.
Prior to considering adopting the updated proposed MBA, Councils for the County of Brant and the City of Brantford held public meetings as required by the Municipal Act.
