We follow accessibility standards throughout the customer service we provide in the County of Brant. Our Accessibility Standards for Customer Service Policy puts these guidelines in place.
The purposes of these guidelines are:
- Being responsive to the needs of all of our residents
- As an employer and service provider, the county aims to provide equal services for everyone
- Promoting accessibility through policies, procedures and practices addressing integration, independence, dignity and equal opportunity
We aim to ensure the following:
- Service is provided in a manner that respects the dignity and independence of persons with disabilities
- Accessible services will be integrated with all our service standards unless an alternate measure is necessary
- Persons with disabilities will be given an opportunity - equal to that given to others - to obtain, use and benefit from the services
- Communication will be considered in a manner that takes into consideration a person's disability
- Staff will receive appropriate training
- Guide dogs and service animals will be permitted to areas/premises which are owned or operated by the County of Brant that are open to the public
- Persons with disabilities, accompanied by a support person, can be accompanied by that support person in premises open to the public
- Notice will be given when facilities or services that people with disabilities rely on to access County of Brant services are temporarily disrupted
- People can provide feedback to us regarding our accessible services
- Persons with disabilities can use their own personal assistive devices to use our services
