Community Mobilization and Engagement
Community Mobilization and Engagement is the name given to the OPP's approach to crime prevention and community policing. For more information, visit the OPP Community Mobilization and Engagement webpage.
Community Safety Groups
Community Safety Groups are comprised of local citizens who are concerned about healthy and safe communities. Group members are volunteers and as such, they have the option to come and go. Ideally the safety group should reflect the community having a broad-based membership of residents, i.e. students, parents, senior citizens, social/community agencies, business leaders, education leaders, service and faith-based organizations, and county politicians to name a few.
There are now three (3) active Community Safety Groups in the County of Brant. The goals of our Community Safety Groups are:
- Support the priorities of the County of Brant’s Community Safety and Well-Being Plan,
- Support the communications and public awareness goals of the Police Services Board,
- Collaborate with partners such as the Police Services Board, Brant OPP, and the County of Brant to bring awareness to community safety issues impacting the County of Brant and,
- To engage community members to be more aware of personal safety and well-being issues in order to reduce potential criminal activities within the community.
