Events

Queen's Jubilee

Saturday, June 4

Celebrate the Queen's 70th year as a monarch with the County of Brant at Mount Pleasant Nature Park on Saturday, June 4 from 10:00 am-12:00 pm. Enjoy speeches and a garden unveiling.

Kick Off to Summer

Friday, June 17

The Kick Off to Summer event is the perfect way to welcome summer. This FREE community event takes place on Friday, June 17 from 5:00-10:00 pm at Lions Park in Paris and features games, swimming, and a movie night.

Year of the Garden

Saturday, June 18

Join the County of Brant, and partners to celebrate the Year of the Garden on Saturday, June 18, 2022 which marks National Garden Day. The event will run from 12:00–3:00 pm at the South Dumfries Community Centre and will be an opportunity for the community to come together. The County of Brant, and partners will provide a number of family-friendly activities to participate in, in addition to providing promotional information on the great garden groups, and initiatives within Brant.

  • Free Lane Swim: Wednesday, June 8, 7:30 - 9:00 am & 7:00 - 8:00 pm
  • Free Seniors Swim: Tuesday, June 14, 2:30 - 3:30 pm
  • Father's Day Swim (Dads Swim Free): Sunday, June 19, 12:30 - 4:00 pm
  • Free School's Out Public Swim Party: Thursday, June 30, 10:30 am - 2:30 pm

Free Yoga

  • June 25, 9:30  - 11:00 am @ King Wards Park, Paris - Hosted by the Outback Health - Wellness Studio. Donations for instructors accepted. 
  • June 28, 6:30 - 7:15 pm @ Lions Park, Paris

Celebrating Seniors Month

The theme for Seniors Month 2022 is Stay Active, Connected, and Safe. During the month of June, the County of Brant is celebrating our seniors by sharing information on programs and activities to help seniors stay mentally and physically healthy, tips to protect themselves from financial scams and fraud, and programs and services to help seniors stay safe and connected.

Brant Transit

Brant Transit is a public transportation program. This shared-ride service includes a fleet of vans ready to help residents with their transportation needs. Brant Transit is an accessible service. Be sure to let Brant Transit know if you require any accommodation or are traveling with a mobility device at the time of booking. Please also advise if you have a support person traveling with you.

  • Seniors (55 years of age and older) ride for $3.00/person
  • Support Persons ride for FREE if they are accompanied by the individual they are supporting

County of Brant Library 55+ Programs

The County of Brant Public Libraries run specific programs for seniors (55+) in the community to help them stay connected and informed.

Seniors Clubs in the County of Brant

  • The Paris Seniors Club 99 - Mondays & Wednesdays at 1:30pm
  • Euchre and Tile Rummy - Membership is $15 and $1 per event to cover cost of refreshments. Located at the Paris Legion 70 William St. Paris. Contact Brenda Carballo, President at 519 442-2032 or wizard.b.1949@gmail.com

  • The Brant Pedalers and Paddlers - Brant Pedalers and Paddlers is a not-for-profit organization for adults interested in active participation in group hiking, cycling, paddling, and outdoor winter activities on Brant County and nearby trails and waterways.   • Scot-Oak Seniors (formally Oakland Seniors) - Scot-Oak Seniors meets at the Scotland Community Centre every Wednesday for shuffle board and cards. Shuffle board runs from 9-11:30am from September to the end of June. Cards run from 12-3:30pm year-round. Contact communityservices@brant.ca or call 519-44-BRANT for more info.

Activities

  • Pickle Ball - The County of Brant has several outdoor courts you play on this season. Newly opened Pickle Ball courts Dawdy Park 80 Hartley Road, Paris is the home the of Brant County Pickle Ball group.  Please check out how to join today. Want to learn the game?  Check out the free clinics being offered no registration needed just show up.
  • Fitness Classes (55+) - The County of Brant offers several Fitness class for 55+ in Burford, Paris, Scotland and St. George. There are several different classes to choose from; cardio, stretching, yoga and so much more. We offer in person classes as well as pre-recorded to watch in the comfort of your home or to do when traveling. All classes are registered. Register now for summer classes. Check out a FREE Stretch and Strength Class Thursday June 23 10-11am at Syl Apps Community Centre. No registration required.

Age-Friendly Trails

Lions Way/Burford Lions Art Cadman Park

  • Located at 78 Maple Ave N. Burford

  • Burford Lions Art Cadman Park is equipped with 1 KM of paved walking trail, that includes various views of Whitemans Creek. The park is also home to a large pavilion, and numerous benches to allow for a safe and relaxing walk.

  • Lions Way connects residents from downtown Burford to the Burford Lions Art Cadman Park.

TH & B Trail

  • This trail runs 12 km from Brantford through Mt.Pleasant and Oakland/Scotland to the County of Brant boundary.
  • You can use this trail to travel all the way to Port Dover.

 

   


 

Nith River Trail

 

  • This trail runs from the bridge on Mechanic Street, to Penman’s Path
  • This trail goes through Lions Park in Paris.
  • Equipped with a sensory trail, and the trail head to go into Barker’s Bush.
