The County of Brant trail system runs through the Grand River Valley, the largest watershed in southern Ontario boasting some of the most sought after and unique natural qualities found anywhere and make up one of the most beautiful and conveniently connected trail systems winding through the only tract of Carolinian Forest found in Canada.

Community Bike Lend Program
Did you know the County of Brant has a Community Bike Lend Program that operates seasonally (June - September) from the Paris Community Pool and Splashpad (5 bikes available).
• Hours available are the Pool Operational hours - contact the pool for more information.
• Bikes must be returned by 7pm Monday-Friday and 4pm Saturday and Sunday.
Bikes are required to be signed in an out by an adult. Bikers are required to wear a helmet. (Helmets are available
for use). 12 years of age and younger must be accompanied by an adult 18 years of age or older.
Please call the pool for more information at 519-442-7311.   Borrow a bike and ride the trails!


Bike Repair Kits
We are happy to have bike repair kits available to use at various locations in Brant. Need to do a quick repair?  Pop in and use a kit!
Locations:  The Arlington Hotel - Downtown Paris,  Community Services Office - 15 Curtis Ave., Paris - Open Mon-Fri 8:30am-4:30pm, Scotland Community Centre - 85 Simcoe St., Scotland - Open Mon-Fri 8:30am-4:30pm

Hiking Trails in Brant

 

Cambridge-to-Paris Rail Trail - 18 km
The Cambridge-to-Paris Rail Trail follows the old railbed of the Lake Erie and Northern Railway between Cambridge and Paris. The trail follows the Grand River through lush Carolinian Forest with spectacular river overlooks en route. The trail is level, finished with fine gravel and provides an easy path for cyclists and hikers. Food and washrooms are available in Cambridge, Glen Morris and Paris.

Grand Valley Trail - 275 km (in total)
The main Grand Valley Trail is a marked footpath stretching about 275 km between Port Maitland on Lake Erie, south of Dunnville to the town of Alton near Orangeville. You can identify the main Grand Valley Trail by the white blazes about 5 cm wide by 15 cm high.

Newport Bridge to Tutela Heights
The North part of the loop reaches 7 km up to Cainsville; the South part another 7 km down to the Newport Bridge.

Paris to Glen Morris
View the Town of Paris from the heights of the SC Johnson section of the trail. This area around km 114.0 - 115.0 used to be alive with the shunting of railway cars. You'll find some interesting facts past East River Rd. as you turn to the Sudden and Dryden Tracts in the beautiful "Alps" section of the trail.

TH & B Trail - 14 km
The TH & B Trail was developed on the former trail bed of the Toronto, Hamilton and Buffalo rail line. Travel the trail from Brantford to Port Dover (45.5 km). This section of Trans Canada Trail joins the Waterford Heritage Trail (18 km) and Norfolk Sunrise Trail (3.75 km) to the final 10 km along the Lynn Valley Trail to complete the link to Port Dover.

LE & N Trail
This trail follows the path of the former LE & N Electric Rail Car Route that travelled from Galt, through Brantford and Mt. Pleasant to Port Dover. The stone dust trail travels through the City of Brantford ending at the back of the Mt. Pleasant Nature Park.

Brantford to Dundurn - 48 km
Start/ end in downtown Brantford. Follow Colborne St. W to Mt. Pleasant Rd. Travel through the Village of Mt. Pleasant, past the historic Malcolm's Mills plaque in Oakland taking in farmland views in Brant and Norfolk County.

Pleasant Ridge Tour - 26 km
Start/ end in downtown in downtown Brantford. Follow Colborne St. west. This short tour follows Pleasant Ridge Rd. and returns through Mt. Pleasant. Catch the paved TH & B on the way back or the LE & N from Burtch Rd. to Conklin Rd. Check out the former fish hatchery ponds at the Mt. Pleasant Nature Park, enjoy a walking tour of the historic homes in Mt. Pleasant or enjoy a meal at the Windmill or Devlin's Bistro.

Apps Mill - 30 km
Start/ end in downtown Brantford. Follow Colborne St. west. This short tour takes you past the majestic curves of the Grand River, by the airport and the Apps Mill Conservation Area.

Paris to Scotland Tour - 48 km
Start/ end in downtown Paris. Follow Keg Lane west to Brant/ Oxford Rd. and head south to Falkland Rd. (Concession 2). Travel west to Maple Ave. N. which will take you by Whiteman's Creek into Burford. Follow Maple Ave. S. and turn east at Norwich Rd. which takes you into Scotland. Take Bishopsgate Rd. to return to the outskirts of Paris.

Paris Environs Tour - 20 km
Start/ end in downtown Paris. Follow Keg Lane west to Brant/ Oxford Rd./ Puttown Rd. and head south to Hwy 2. Travel East to Bishopsgate Rd. and follow south to Bethel Rd. and onto Rest Acres Rd. Head north over the 403 and turn onto Powerline Rd., going past the Brant Sports Complex to Mile Hill Rd. Caution - Narrow Rd. with steep slow. Follow Washington St. north to the High Level Bridge in Paris.

Paris - Ayr Tour - 35 km
Start/ end in downtown Paris. Follow East River Rd. to Glen Morris Rd., head north on Spragues Rd. to Wrigley Rd., returning to Paris on Swan St. (Ayr Rd). This tour follows the shore of the Grand River, before heading west into Ayr and returning to Paris through farmland.

Paris - St. George - 30 km
Start/ end in downtown Paris. Follow East River Rd. to Blue Lake Rd. into St. George. Head south on St. George Rd. to Governor's Rd. Take Park Rd. N. to Powerline Rd. to complete the route back to Paris Rd. This tour takes you by the Adelaide Hunter Hoodless Museum into the quaint village of St. George and skirts the edge of Brantford on the way back to Paris.

St. George - Lynden Loop - 21 km
Take Hwy 5 to Lynden Rd., return on Powerline Rd. Use Bethel Church Rd. to make the connection back to Powerline Rd. Easy tour through rolling countryside.
