Air Quality and Recreation

Following the Special Air Quality Statement issued for the County of Brant, and with High-risk Air Quality Health Index values expected to continue this afternoon, the following County of Brant recreation programs have been impacted for today, Friday, June 6 , 2025:
- The Paris Community Pool and Paris Splash Pad - all programming has been cancelled and the pool and splash pad will be closed as of 3:00 pm today. Program staff will make every attempt to reschedule lessons and if unable, a refund will apply.
- The St. George and Burford Splash Pads remains closed due to mechanical issues. The Burford Splash Pad is scheduled to reopen tomorrow, June 7 at 10:00 am.
- Field Rentals and outdoor amenities remain open at this time and changes to programming are at the discretion of the user group. We ask that you contact user groups directly for updates. Please note, user groups can cancel with no penalty, please contact facilitybooking@brant.ca.
Local Air Quality Health Index values are expected to reach 7 today, which is considered “High-risk”.
Those considered high risk during this time include:
- people with lung disease (such as asthma) or heart disease
- older adults
- children
- pregnant people
- people who work outdoors
These individuals should reduce or reschedule strenuous outdoor activities.
Local Air Quality Health Index readings can be found on the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks Air Quality Website at https://www.airqualityontario.com/aqhi/, and includes current readings and maximum forecast values for today, tonight, and tomorrow.
