Nith Peninsula Residential Subdivision Construction Update

With construction continuing at the Nith Peninsula Residential Subdivision, we would like to provide a brief update on the pre-servicing and trail construction.

Construction:

On July 27, 2022, construction began for the Nith Peninsula Residential Subdivision. The servicing works are nearing completion with the installation of the remainder of the curbs and base asphalt to occur this summer.

Losani Homes is permitted to construct the following within the boundary of the Nith Peninsula Residential Subdivision:

• storm sewers and appurtenances (e.g. manholes, catchbasins)
• sanitary sewers and appurtenances (e.g. manholes, service laterals)
• stormwater management facility
• road base
• curbs and
• base asphalt

Barkers Bush Trail Update:

Due to the construction related to the Nith Peninsula Residential Subdivision, a portion of Barker’s Bush trail was closed in March 2023. This portion of the trail remains closed for the installation of a new boardwalk on the trail that will cross the stormwater outlet.

The work on the re-alignment of the Barker’s Bush trails is behind schedule due to material delays, weather and contracting services. The completion of the boardwalk for the trail and restoration is set to begin in the coming weeks, with a targeted opening of August.

Barker’s Bush trail loop will remain open and available for use on the east portion of the park and a dead-end linear trail can still be used. Currently, there is no through access between the east and west sides of Barker’s Bush.

Trail users are asked to please avoid any construction areas and navigate the trail with caution.
