Emergency Preparedness Week, Planning for Every Season - Fall
Emergency Preparedness Week is May 4-10, 2025. Learn how to Plan for Every Season with the County of Brant and take emergency preparedness into your own hands.
Planning for Every Season - Fall
Fall in Ontario can mean high winds, heavy rain, and the early arrival of frost and power outages. Fallen branches and icy roads can make travel and communication difficult.
Autumn Emergency preparedness tips:
- Check and test smoke & carbon monoxide alarms — heating systems are firing up again
- Inspect and clean chimneys, woodstoves, and furnaces before regular use
- Trim trees near power lines
- Check your roof and gutters for leaves and debris
- Drive with caution — farm equipment and fog can reduce visibility
- Prepare vehicles for changing road conditions. Keep wiper fluid and snow brushes accessible.
- Restock your 72-hour kit for cold weather with gloves, hats and a blanket. Remember to include essential items for all family members and pets
