Emergency Preparedness Week, Planning for Every Season - Winter
Emergency Preparedness Week is May 4-10, 2025. Learn how to Plan for Every Season with the County of Brant and take emergency preparedness into your own hands.
Planning for Every Season - Winter
Winter in Ontario isn’t just cold — it can be dangerous. Snowstorms, ice and high winds can lead to extended power outages, impassable roads, and extreme cold.
When winter weather approaches, we ask that you:
- Check the weather and road conditions before heading out. Avoid all non-essential travel.
- Keep your vehicle stocked with winter supplies (hats, gloves, blankets) and a 72-hour Emergency Car Kit - visit brant.ca/EmergencyPlanning to learn more
- Be patient with the plows and other snow maintenance vehicles.
- Make sure you have an alternate heat source
- Know how to shut off water to prevent frozen pipes
- Check in on neighbours, especially seniors
Be ready before the storm hits. Learn more ways to keep your family and home safe on our Emergency Planning webpage
