Back to Search
Emergency Planning

Emergency Preparedness Week is May 4-10, 2025. Learn how to Plan for Every Season with the County of Brant and take emergency preparedness into your own hands.

Planning for Every Season - Winter

Winter in Ontario isn’t just cold — it can be dangerous. Snowstorms, ice and high winds can lead to extended power outages, impassable roads, and extreme cold.

When winter weather approaches, we ask that you:

  • Check the weather and road conditions before heading out. Avoid all non-essential travel.
  • Keep your vehicle stocked with winter supplies (hats, gloves, blankets) and a 72-hour Emergency Car Kit -  visit brant.ca/EmergencyPlanning to learn more
  • Be patient with the plows and other snow maintenance vehicles.
  • Make sure you have an alternate heat source
  • Know how to shut off water to prevent frozen pipes
  • Check in on neighbours, especially seniors

Be ready before the storm hits. Learn more ways to keep your family and home safe on our Emergency Planning webpage

Thank you for Planning for Every Season with the County of Brant during Emergency Preparedness Week to make sure you, your family, pets, and properties are safe during inclement weather and sudden emergencies.
