Winter is here, and for many, that means snowmobiling!
While it's a great way to enjoy Brant’s landscape, safety must always come first. Remember these essential tips to ensure a safe ride for everyone:
- Stay on Marked Trails: Only ride on officially designated and marked trails. Trespassing on private property is illegal and dangerous.
- Check Conditions: Be aware of ice and weather conditions before you head out.
- Never Drink and Ride: Impaired driving laws apply to snowmobiles, too. Plan a safe journey.
- Wear Proper Gear: Always wear a helmet and appropriate warm clothing to protect yourself from injuries and the cold.
- Ride Responsibly: Obey all speed limits and rules of the trails.
Remember to carry a valid driver’s licence or motorized snow vehicle operator’s license, proof of snowmobile ownership and insurance and have a valid Snowmobile Trail Permit affixed to your sled when on Ontario Federation of Snowmobile trails.
Let's keep our winter a safe and happy one! Learn more about rules and regulations by visiting the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs website www.ofsc.on.ca or www.Ontario.ca/SnowmobileSafety
Reminder: Always check the OFSC website before heading out on the trails. Trails must be shown as green/available to ride and conditions can change quickly.
