Committee of Adjustment
The Committee of Adjustment is authorized by the Ontario Planning Act to grant severances through Consent Applications and Minor Variances from the provisions of the Zoning Bylaw.
The Committee can permit extensions, enlargements, variations and other changes to parts of land, buildings and/or structures that do not follow our Zoning Bylaw, if it is determined that the changes still maintain the general intent and purpose of the bylaw, meet the general intent of the Official Plan, is desirable for the development of the site and is minor in nature.
The Committee also has the delegated authority to approve land to be subdivided which would not be subject to a Plan of Condominium or Subdivision as long as the proposal complies with the Zoning Bylaw, Official Plan and Provincial Policy Statement.
The Committee considers the information submitted, along with a Professional Planning Recommendation from staff, and makes a decision.
Prior to making a development application under the Planning Act, a Pre-Consultation meeting is encouraged.
To book your Pre-Consultation Meeting, complete the online Pre-Consultation Meeting Request form below.
