Development Fees and Charges
Development charges for municipal services—such as service studies, fire protection, emergency services, and parks and recreation, are calculated in accordance with the County’s Development Charges By-laws.
The County of Brant recently updated its Development Charges Background Study and By-law to incorporate new projects and revised capital costs required to support community growth over the next ten years. The updated By-law came into effect on November 1, 2024.
Development Charges Bylaw
The Development Charges By-law outlines how and when development charges are collected and ensures that new development contributes fairly to the cost of growth-related infrastructure. These charges help fund the capital projects needed to maintain and expand municipal services as the community grows.

Development Charges Background Study Report
The Development Charges Background Study identifies the infrastructure and capital projects needed to support future growth in the County. It estimates the cost of these projects and determines how much of that cost should be recovered through development charges. This report provides the technical and financial basis for the By-law.
