Fitness Programs
To participate in any of the below Fitness Programs, you must register online. To register:
- Visit the COBConnect webpage
- Create an account and register for your programs
- Fall Program Registration opens Tuesday, September 12 at 8:30 am
- If you experience any difficulty signing up after registration is open, contact Community Services at 519.442.1944 during regular business hours. (Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm)
Cardio Combo 55+ | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This workout is designed to enhance cardiovascular and muscular function in active aging adults. In this one-hour class, bands, balls, or weights can be used for resistance, as well as movement, weights, balance, and overall body conditioning. Chairs will be used in various ways to increase and decrease the challenge. Bring water, and work at your own pace. Instructor: Sherry

Functional Fitness is a class that supports your everyday life. The class includes functional exercises that mimic everyday activities to stimulate the major muscle groups. Focus will be on mobility, stability, strength, movement, posture, cardio and stamina. Functional Fitness promises to be fun while improving your fitness. Instructor: Heather

Gentle Yoga | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Improve your flexibility, strength, and balance with easy-to-follow exercises that improve your overall health and well-being. Participants are always encouraged to work at their own pace, and beginners are always welcome. Dress comfortably and bring a yoga mat if you have one! (Fitness mats available if needed). Range of Motion | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
This one-hour class focuses on body balance and strengthening. The first step is to work on your range of motion, followed by strengthening it. Functional everyday movements will be challenged. The floor work has been moved to the walls using weights, a ball and a chair. Instructor: Sherry

Strength and Stretch | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Building strength to support much needed muscle mass for bone density, strength and balance. Targeting upper and/or lower muscle groups while developing better posture and techniques. Functional movements to help maintain range of motion, mobility and muscle balance. Stretching to relax tight and overused muscles. Instructor: Sherry. Registration is required and closes the morning of the class at 8:00 am.

Reintroduce your body to movement and fitness in a effective way. This class incorporates gentle, flowing movements with some choreographed Zumba songs, then ease into stretches to gradually increase your flexibility and strength. on September 12. registration is required! Instructor Heather

Free Programs
The County Brant is excited to be offering free Seniors Workshops in 2023/2024 thanks to the Federal Government New Horizon’s Grant that was received. Workshops will be held throughout the County of Brant in various locations. Free transportation can be provided if needed.

Crock Pot Club | ||||||||||
The County of Brant in partnership with the Brant County Health Unit offers this six week Crock Pot Club. Participants will prepare a soup or crockpot meal and receive information or demonstrations about healthy aging. All supplies and food are provided.

Digital Literacy for Seniors with the Brant Skills Centre | ||||||||||
Join us for this workshop with the Brant Skills Centre, focusing on Internet basics for an aging population. At the end of the session, you will get a chance to ask a Tech questions about your own personal devices.

Mark your calendars! Come and join us for a day celebrating our Active Older Adults. The Seniors Active Living Expo, will feature many Community Partners Information tables as well as demos and classes of some of our County of Brant Fitness Programs. Walking Soccer | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Walking Soccer is a low impact, modified version of regular soccer, with NO running and NO contact. It's a fun way to participate in team camaraderie and is suitable for all levels of fitness and abilities. Indoor flat soled shoes are required. Shin pads are suggested. You must register to attend. Registration is required and closes the morning of the class at 8:00 am.

Brant Pedalers and Paddlers |
Brant Pedalers and Paddlers is a not-for-profit organization for adults interested in active participation in group hiking, cycling, paddling, and outdoor winter activities on Brant County and nearby trails and waterways. For more information, visit the Brant Pedalers and Paddlers website. |
Ontario Senior Game Association 55+ |
The OSGA 55+ is an organization to promote all Ontarians 55+ to participate in District and Provincial games designed to promote mutual respect, among participants, volunteers and all those responsible for the Games, for each other, the rules and the spirit of fair play. Visit the Ontario Senior Game Association webpage for more information. District 25 represents the 55+ residents of Brantford, Brant County, Haldimand and Norfolk Counties. The District 25 Committee consists of volunteers, municipal staff responsible for senior services and anyone else that would like to help out.
