Service Commitment Statement
The Brant-Brantford Paramedic Service has committed that this service will conform to all applicable regulations and legislation, while remaining accessible to all residents and visitors to Ontario. The service will be seamless across municipal boundaries, accountable and responsive to the needs of the community.
The Brant-Brantford Paramedic Service will ensure its staffing pattern continues at no less than the pre-transition Ministry of Health approved levels and the introduction and expansion of advanced care paramedic resources will be maximized through splitting Advanced Care Paramedic (ACP) and Primary Care Paramedic (PCP) crews and their positioning in the community. All crews are on-site and thus crew reaction times of less than 2 minutes for all code 3, 4 and 8 calls will be assured, and every effort will be made to achieve the 2021 Response Time Performance Plan.
Currently the Brant- Brantford Paramedic Service employs mostly Primary Care Paramedics, and as such, our 8 ambulances at peak staffing and 1 emergency response vehicle will be staffed primarily with PCP’s. We further commit to a gradual enhancement of advanced care paramedics within funding allocations to achieve the goal of an advanced care paramedic on every vehicle, every shift and response time standards as set out on page two herein.
Our current staff compliment of 140 Full and Part-Time ACP and PCP Paramedics are committed to providing the best service possible as “the patient comes first”.
Responding to Emergencies
We follow a tiered response model with the local fire department to make sure we respond rapidly to life threatening emergencies.
Our resources are dispatched through the Hamilton Central Ambulance Communication Centre. The Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care oversees operations.
Brant's team has 35 individuals with advance paramedical skills who can provide cardiac monitoring, pacing and defibrillation, intravenous fluid delivery and administration of medications.
