To conserve trees in our county we prohibit/regulate destruction and injuring of trees in woodlots larger than 0.49 acres. We also regulate planting and maintenance of trees on County highways.

Cutting Down Trees in a Woodlot
Before you cut down a tree in a woodlot, check to make sure the destruction of the tree isn't prohibited by the tree conservation bylaw.
You can contact the forestry officer to ask whether you need to apply for the authority to cut.
Notice of Intent
Before cutting down trees, you must notify the county clerk's office using a notice of intent to cut.
Deliver the notice to the county clerk's office at least seven working days prior to any cutting. This notice will be reviewed by the forestry officer.
Application for a Minor Exception
You can apply for a minor exception to the tree conservation bylaw through the forestry officer. Contact By-law Enforcement to arrange for a pre-consultation meeting prior to submitting an application for a minor exception
