Weekend update: April 1 - 3, 2022 | ||
WEEKEND TRAFFIC ENFORCEMENT RESULTS IN CHARGES AND VEHICLE IMPOUNDMENTS On Saturday, April 2, 2022 at approximately 12:27 p.m., an officer with Brant OPP initiated a traffic stop on Oakland Road in the County of Brant. The officer was conducting focused patrols when they stopped a vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act investigation. Police have charged a 55-year-old from Welland with the following offences:
The driver is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford at a later date. As a result of the licence suspension, the vehicle was impounded for 45 days.
On Saturday, April 2, 2022 at approximately 2:50 p.m., an officer with Brant OPP initiated a traffic stop on Oakland Road in the County of Brant. The officer was conducting focused patrols when they stopped a vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act investigation. Police have charged a 29-year-old from Tillsonburg with the following offences:
The driver is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford at a later date. As a result of the licence suspension, the vehicle was impounded for seven days. On Sunday, April 3, 2022 at approximately 10:51 a.m., an officer with Brant OPP initiated a traffic stop on Colborne Street East in the County of Brant. The officer was conducting focused patrols when they stopped a vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act investigation. Police have charged a 55-year-old from Dundas with the following offences:
The driver is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford at a later date. On Sunday, April 3, 2022 at approximately 11:02 a.m., an officer with Brant OPP initiated a traffic stop on Dundas Street West in the County of Brant. The officer was conducting general patrols when they stopped a vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act investigation. Police have charged a 41-year-old from Brantford with the following offences:
The driver is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford at a later date. As a result of the licence suspension, the vehicle was impounded for 45 days. (Cainsville) – POLICE SEEK SUSPECTS IN THEFT FROM LOCAL STORE On Sunday, April 3, 2022 at approximately 1:29 a.m., Brant OPP responded to an alarm from a local business on Brant County Road 18 in the County of Brant. It was determined a suspect moved several items outside of a fenced area on the property. The investigation is ongoing. Weekend Wrap Up: March 25 - 27, 2022 | ||
PROACTIVE PATROLS RESULT IN 118 CHARGES AND WARNINGS Brant County OPP frontline and Traffic Management Unit (TMU) members in addition to OPP West Region Highway Safety Division (HSD) members conducted numerous hours of patrols within the County of Brant throughout the weekend. The proactive patrols included speed enforcement using RADAR and LIDAR equipment. Officers initiated approximately 100 traffic stops resulting in 99 charges and 19 warnings under the Highway Traffic Act. Offences included:
Proactive patrols continue daily by Brant OPP members on the roads of the County of Brant. Brant OPP TMU members conduct enforcement targeting aggressive driving behaviours in identified areas of concern. In addition to responding to serious collisions, OPP West Region HSD members rotate among different areas conducting proactive focused patrols. (Brant County) – THREE VEHICLES SEIZED FOR EXCESSIVE SPEED On Saturday, March 26, 2022 at approximately 1:39 a.m., an officer with Brant OPP initiated a traffic stop on Grand River Street North in the County of Brant. The officer was conducting speed enforcement, when they located a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped after travelling more than 90 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone. Police have charged a 19-year-old from Brant County with the following offences:
On Saturday, March 26, 2022 at approximately 7:12 p.m., an officer with the Brant OPP initiated a traffic stop on Bishopsgate Road in the County of Brant. The officer was conducting speed enforcement, when they located a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped after travelling more than 130 km/h in a posted 80 km/h zone. Police have charged a 42-year-old from Norfolk County with the following offences:
On Sunday, March 27, 2022 at approximately 1:30 a.m., an officer with Brant OPP initiated a traffic stop on Oakland Road in the County of Brant. The officer was conducting speed enforcement, when they located a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped after travelling more than 90 km/h in a posted 50 km/h zone. Police have charged a 26-year-old from Mount Hope with the following offences:
The vehicles were impounded at the roadside for 14 days and the individual's driver's licences were suspended for 30 days. The drivers are scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford at a later date. (Paris) – POLICE SEEK SUSPECTS IN THEFT FROM LOCAL STORE On Saturday, March 26, 2022, Brant OPP responded to a theft report from a local business on Grand River Street North in the County of Brant. It was determined on Friday March 25 at approximately 7:23 p.m., a suspect entered the Canadian Tire store and stole a Dewalt Cordless Compact Router. The investigation is ongoing. Weekend Wrap Up: March 18 - 20, 2022 | ||
(Newport) – FOCUSED PATROL TRAFFIC STOP RESULTS IN CHARGES On Friday, March 18, 2022 at approximately 11:57 p.m., Brant County OPP members initiated a traffic stop on Cockshutt Road in the County of Brant. Police were on mobile patrol when they stopped the vehicle for a Highway Traffic Act investigation. It was determined the vehicle was not insured and the driver’s licence was suspended. A 63-year-old from Brantford, is charged with the following offences:
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario at a later date. (Brant County) – POLICE ENCOURAGE RESIDENTS TO REPORT SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITY On Friday, March 18, 2022 from late afternoon to early Saturday morning, Brant OPP members responded to seven suspicious person or vehicle calls in the County of Brant. The calls resulted in everything from vehicles with mechanical issues waiting to be towed to unresponsive persons behind the wheel. While some people don’t want to “bother” police with what they consider unimportant calls, these reports often result in getting someone the assistance they need in a timely manner or interrupting a crime in progress. Brant OPP continues to urge all residents of Brant County to report any suspicious persons or vehicles they observe to our non-emergency line at 1-888-310-1122. (Brant County) – POLICE RESPOND TO RECREATIONAL VEHICLE COMPLAINTS On Friday, March 18, 2022, Brant OPP responded to two separate reports for recreational vehicles driving on the roadway in the County of Brant. In accordance with the Highway Traffic Act and the Off-Road Vehicle Act, municipalities must have a by-law permitting certain All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) and Off-Road Vehicle (ORV) use on roadways. Currently, Brant County does not have a by-law permitting on-road ATV/ORV use and as such, on-road driving of ATVs/ORVs in Brant County is prohibited. Being a responsible rider by following laws and wearing approved helmets will significantly reduce the risk of injuries as well as being charged with offences. (Highway 403) – COLLISION INVESTIGATION ON HIGHWAY 403 LEADS TO IMPAIRED CHARGES On Saturday, March 12, 2022 at approximately 6:07 p.m., Brant County OPP members responded to a single-vehicle collision on Highway 403 in the County of Brant. Police located a vehicle in a ditch, where one person was arrested and transported to Brantford Police Station for testing. A 38-year-old from Toronto, is charged with the following offences:
The accused has been released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford, Ontario at a later date. If you see a suspected impaired driver, you should contact the Ontario Provincial Police, or your nearest police authority immediately by calling 9-1-1. (Pleasant Ridge) – TEEN HAS VEHICLE IMPOUNDED AND LICENCE SUSPENDED FOR EXCESSIVE SPEED On Sunday, March 13, 2022 at approximately 4:50 p.m., Brant OPP members initiated a traffic stop on Pleasant Ridge Road in the County of Brant. The officer was conducting speed enforcement, when they located a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped after travelling more than 100 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone. Police have charged a 19-year-old from Norfolk County with the following offences:

(St. George) – POLICE INVESTIGATE BREAK AND ENTER TO SENIORS APARTMENT BUILDING On Friday, March 11, 2022 at approximately 12:34 p.m., Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members responded to a reported break and enter on High Street in the County of Brant. It was determined that, at approximately 1:45 a.m. the same date, an unknown suspect forcibly entered an apartment building common area and gained access to the laundry room. The suspect left the area almost immediately. The investigation is ongoing and police are seeking assistance from the public. Weekend Wrap Up: March 4 - 6, 2022 | ||
(Paris) – TWO VEHICLES STOLEN IN PARIS – ONE STILL OUTSTANDING On Sunday, March 6, 2022 at approximately 5:17 a.m., Brant County OPP members responded to a reported theft of motor vehicle on Amelia Street in Paris. A blue 2017 Nissan Pathfinder SUV was taken sometime overnight. Approximately two hours later, police patrolling the area located the vehicle on Vic Chambers Place in Paris. A 2018 GMC Sierra was stolen nearby from Tom Brown Place during the same timeframe. It is white with the Denali trim package, a diesel engine and Ontario licence plates AX26798. This vehicle is still outstanding. The investigation is ongoing and police are seeking assistance from the public. If anyone in the area with home security or a dash-cam has any information regarding this incident, they are being asked to contact the Brant County OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122. (Paris) – FIREARM AND AMMUNITION STOLEN DURING BREAK AND ENTER On Saturday, March 5, 2022 at approximately 1:47 p.m., Brant County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) members responded to a reported break and enter on Pinehurst Road in the County of Brant. It was determined sometime between 6:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. the same date, unknowns entered a garage on a residential property and stole a number of items. The stolen property includes several Dewalt cordless tools, a coyote call and a Thompson Venture rifle with a mounted scope. The officer was conducting speed enforcement, when they located a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed. The vehicle was stopped after travelling more than 106 km/h in a posted 60 km/h zone. Police have charged a 31-year-old from Brantford with the following offences:
The vehicle was impounded at the roadside for 14 days and the individual's driver's licence was suspended for 30 days. The driver is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice located in Brantford at a later date. |
