Community Policing Committees
COVID-19 Notice - Per council, during the Covid-19 pandemic, all in-person community policing committee meetings are suspended. Virtual meetings are permitted and encouraged until social distancing restrictions are lifted.
The Community Policing committees are comprised of local citizens who are concerned about healthy and safe communities. Committee members are volunteers and as such they have the option to come and go. Ideally the committee should reflect the community having a broad-based membership of residents, i.e. students, parents, senior citizens, social/community agencies, business leaders, education leaders, service and faith-based organizations, and county politicians to name a few.
Brant County OPP officers act as community safety partners to aid in the proactive problem solving of identified community concerns. As such the police will not take an executive role in the committees. While the police are the main enforcement component within the community, the purpose is to provide support by bringing crime prevention strategies and analytical capabilities to the attention of the committees.
Paris Community Policing Committee
Volunteers and new members living in the Paris area are always welcome to join the Paris Community Policing meetings.
St. George Community Policing Committee
Volunteers and new members living in the St. George and Glen Morris area are always welcome to join the St. George Community Policing meetings. We are currently holding zoom meetings bi-monthly. For more information please contact ssteedman2014@gmail.com.
Citizens Self Reporting
Ontario Provincial Police are pleased to offer Citizen Self Reporting, an alternative reporting option that allows the public to report specific crimes to police via the Internet, anywhere, anytime. The OPP's Citizen Self Reporting system allows members of the public to use a computer or mobile device to report an incident, without requiring an officer to attend the scene.
Citizen Self Reporting is simple and convenient and can be used when reporting incidents that do not involve injury or a suspect, or a crime that is not an emergency. The use of this new system is completely optional. Police will still attend a call for service if desired.
Crime Stoppers
The Brant-Brantford Crime Stoppers Board and Staff are dedicated to delivering on their mandate and mission statement. Their team is comprised of volunteers, staff and board members who work hard to make our community safe for all. Please visit the Crime Stoppers Brantford-Brant website for more information.
Office of the Independent Police Review Director
The Office of the Independent Police Review Director (OIPRD) is responsible for receiving, managing and overseeing all public complaints about municipal, regional and provincial police in Ontario. As an independent civilian oversight agency, we make sure that public complaints about police are dealt with in a manner that is transparent, effective and fair to both the public and the police.
