PUBLIC NOTICE - Dog License renewal payment options - updated March 18, 2020
Dog License renewal payments can be made in the following ways:
Over the phone – credit cards payments can be made - please call 519-449-2451
By internet banking – add “County of Brant Dog Tag” as a payee and insert account # this can be found on your renewal form (example LCDG0000000XX) - if you need your account number please contact the County of Brant at 519-449-2451 (or email doglicense@brant.ca)
By mail – send your form with a cheque payable to the “County of Brant” to the “County of Brant – 26 Park Ave, P.O. Box 160, Burford ON N0E1A0”
Drop-boxes – deposit your renewal form and payment at a County of Brant drop box - addresses listed below.

All dog owners must register their dog(s) within 10 days of becoming the owner. When you register your dog you will receive a dog tag. Keep the current dog tag securely fixed to the dog it was issued for.
To get a dog license for the first time:
- Complete Dog License Form online.
- Paper copies are available at most county offices.
To renew an existing dog license:
- Complete the renewal form and submit it at any County of Brant office in person,by mail or online.
- Renewal forms will be mailed to you each year. If you do not receive a renewal form, contact the Bylaw Enforcement Department using the contact information on this page.

Fee Policies
- To receive the Spayed/ Neutered rate, documentation must be provided. Documentation will be kept on file.
- Dogs less than 1 year of age may be licensed at the Spayed/Neutered rate the first year. Upon renewal you must provide proof that the dog is spayed or neutered to pay the Spayed/Neutered rate.
- You must renew your dog licence(s) on or before March 31 every year.
- You must provide proof that a dog is an assistance dog upon first registration to receive the Assistance Dog rate. Documentation will be kept on file.
Licence Transfers and Refunds
All requests for refunds or transfers must be made in writing to County of Brant Bylaw Enforcement Department.
Updating Information
If your address or contact information has changed, or if your dog has died, you can update your dog licence information by contacting the Bylaw Enforcement Department.
Pitbull Licensing
Special criteria apply to pitbull licensing, including control and sterilization. For further information on pitbull licencing contact bylawenforcement@brant.ca. Read the Dog Owner's Liability Act for further information about owning a pitbull.
