This program is only available for residential properties. Residential dwellings which do not currently receive curbside collection are not eligible for collection (eg. apartment unit in a high rise building, condominium unit that does not receive curbside collection).
Collection Frequency - two collections allowed per year, one collection in each half of year (1st half: January to June, 2nd half: July to December).
Quantity - Maximum five items will be collected per collection request.
Collection Request Method - To request a collection please call the County of Brant at 519-44BRANT. County staff will check to ensure the property is eligible for collection. Please be prepared to provide them with your name, address and a description and number of items to be collected. The collection is typically booked for the following week on your regular collection day.
Fee - $25 per collection. Payment method will be coordinated at the time of booking.
Acceptable Items:
- appliances such as stoves, microwaves, refrigerators (including bar fridges and wine chillers), air conditioners, dehumidifiers, water coolers, washers, dryers, dishwashers
- furniture such as sofas, couches, desks, chairs, tables, rugs, patio furniture, bedsprings, mattresses, bed frames
- large fixtures such as bathtubs, toilets, sinks
- other household items such as water tanks, bicycles, barbeques (without propane tanks)
- carpet rolls and under padding (materials must be rolled and bundled in lengths not to exceed four feet)
- any other large articles which would normally come from a household
Not Acceptable Items:
- business, commercial, industrial, agricultural and construction material
- small items, loose refuse and other rubbish waste
- construction/renovation materials, masonry, or any rubble or refuse building repairs such as:
- glass, windows, doors, siding, lumber, drywall, concrete, stone, earth, asphalt, bricks, fencing
- organic materials such as trees, tree stumps, leaves, branches
- animal carcasses or feces
- agricultural waste, fencing crates, skids, or plastic
- materials from farm related activities
- farm machinery or equipment parts
- automotive parts or bodies
- any fuel oil tanks or items with gasoline tanks
- drums, fire barrels
- electronics
- liquid wastes, motor oil, paints, solvents
- propane tanks
- hazardous waste (fertilizers, pesticides, cleaners)
- tires
- paint cans, glass jars or other blue box recyclables, and
- loose materials in cardboard boxes
Set Out Requirements:
- Curbside by 7:00 am on scheduled collection day and no earlier than 6:00 pm on the day before your scheduled collection day
- Refrigerators and freezers must have doors removed or secured in such a fashion that they cannot be opened
- No more than five items per collection
