When you are building, renovating or moving materials within the County you may need to apply for a permit(s):
Public Works Permit
- Dumpster, bin, scaffold, machinery temporarily on the sidewalk, parking area, or road
- Excavation in the road allowance to install services, ditches
- Entrance/driveway - new entrance, widen, move or repave entrance
- Water - new or reconnection to existing service (inspection, connection, and/or frontage fees may apply)
- Sewer - new or reconnection to existing service (inspection, connection, and/or frontage fees may apply)
Oversize Overweight Load Permit
- Moving oversize loads (wide, tall, heavy) on County roads
- Annual and single trip permits available
How to Apply for a Permit
- Contact the Operations Department - Public Works to find out which permits your project requires. If you are applying for a building permit, you may also need a Public Works Permit for entrance and/or service connections.
- You may need to set up an appointment with Public Works to review the requirements of your project.
- Review the fees and charges for the applicable permits.
- Complete the permit application form:

5. And submit it via email, mail or in person to the Public Works office.
How to Pay for a Permit
Payments for Oversize Overweight Permits can be made by cash, Interac, cheque to “County of Brant”, Visa or Mastercard (online or in person).
