As a resident you are responsible for the sidewalk in front of, alongside and behind your property. This means that in the winter you are responsible for clearing and removing snow and ice from these areas. Even a small amount of snow and ice can be dangerous for pedestrians.
The Snow Removal Bylaw requires every occupant of a building and every owner of a vacant lot to clear any accumulation of snow and ice from sidewalks surrounding their property. If you fail to do so, the municipality may clear away and remove snow and ice at the owner's expense and charge a $105 fine.
