Construction Notice - Broadway Street West and West River Street on Tuesday, October 27

Project name: Broadway Street West and West River Street Reconstruction

When?

• Beginning Tuesday, October 27, 2026

What is the update?

• Tuesday, October 27 and Wednesday, October 28 – Broadway Street West between Emily Street and West River Street will be closed to allow Aecon to complete a gas main relocation connection. Local traffic will be maintained on either side of the excavation area. No through traffic will be permitted.  The road will be closed only as long as necessary to complete the work.
  
  
• Thursday, October 29 – on or after the 29th, West River Street from Charlotte Street to Broadway Street will be closed to start the replacement of the storm sewer as communicated earlier in the fall. The work is scheduled for 3 to 4 weeks, and the road will be paved for the winter once completed.  Local traffic will be maintained as much as possible and only the west side of the street will have asphalt removed as a part of this work.
  
  
• Storm Sewer Outlet Channel – The required work to make repairs to the storm sewer outlet channel running beside the Penman’s Pass Trail has been rescheduled to early next year.  More information will be shared before the work starts.

Changes during construction period?

• Road or sidewalk impacts: Road closures as noted and sidewalks will be maintained as much as possible.  Walkers may be asked to cross the street depending on where crews are working and available space for safe passage.
• Detour routes: will be posted to Municipal 511
• Noise/light: Heavy equipment and dump trucks will be operating in the area in compliance with the Noise By-law
• Parking: No street parking during work hours (7am to 7pm) will be permitted.  Alternate locations will be provided as needed for residents in the effected area.
• Access (personal driveways, services or amenities): Access to personal driveways will be maintained as much as possible.  The contractor may ask residents to move vehicles for a day as they work past driveways and reinstate them.
• Garbage: Contractor will collect and move to a pickup area if necessary.
