October Household Hazardous Waste Event

Friendly reminder that the next Household Hazardous Waste event is this Saturday, October 17.

Household Hazardous Waste days take place at the Mohawk Street Landfill, located at 20 Morrison Road, Brantford, from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm (ID may be requested to confirm residency in Brant or Brantford).

• Environmental Protection: Improper disposal, such as pouring chemicals down drains or tossing them in the trash, allows toxic substances to seep into the soil and groundwater. This contaminates local drinking water sources and harms plants and wildlife.
• Public Health: Exposure to hazardous waste can lead to short-term issues like respiratory irritation or chemical burns, and long-term risks including cancer, kidney failure, and developmental disorders.
