New Residential Building Permit
A building permit is required for the construction of a single detached home, semi-detached home, and townhouses.
Tiny Houses
On-site Construction
A building permit is required for the on-site construction of a Tiny House that is 37 square metres (398 square feet) or less in building area and has not more than one dwelling unit.
Off-site Construction
A building permit is required for the off-site construction of a Tiny House that is 37 square metres (398 square feet) or less in building area and has not more than one dwelling unit.
It is a two-permit system for off-site construction of tiny houses when a tiny house is constructed in one municipality but is to be located and occupied in another. In this instance, you will need to apply for the following:
- A building permit in the originating municipality where the tiny house is being constructed
- A building permit in the receiving municipality where the tiny house will be located and occupied
- Tiny Houses Transfer Form
